The Young Rebel Star Prabhas (Venkata Satyanarayana Prabhas Raju Uppalapati), the Bahubali hero and his team went on a tree planting drive in July, 2016. He took the Telengana government’s ambitious Haritha Haram initiative to plant hunreds of tree saplings at Ramoji film city in Hyderabad, along with his Bahubali team. Despite his busy filming schedule he took out some time to take part in the Green initiative. The other top participants were SS Rajamouli and Rana Daggubati.
The main ageanda of Haritha Haram is to plant 230 cores plants in telangana. Haritha Haram is meant for giving a new life to degraded forests, effective protection of forests against encroachment, fire, over-grazing and smuggling. Social Forestry will also be done in the areas outside the notified forest. Massive planting will be done in areas like road-side avenues, river and canal banks, barren hills, tank bunds and fore-shore areas, institutional premises, religious places, housing colonies, community lands, municipalities, industrial parks, etc.
National Forest Policy of India envisages a minimum of 33% of the total geographical area under forest / tree cover to maintain environmental stability and ecological balance; that are vital for sustenance of all life-forms, human, animal and plants.
Kudos to Prabhas for taking part in such a noble activity that is hoped to instill the value of nature and environmental protection in the young minds of his fans, not only in India but also abroad. A great inspiration and motivation for young generation to follow!
